How much does Shopify POS cost in Singapore?
You pay for a Shopify plan first. Every paid plan includes basic in-person selling. POS Pro is an optional add-on charged per location.
| Plan | Yearly billing (per month) | Monthly billing | In-person card rate (Shopify Payments) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | SGD 29 | SGD 39 | 3% + SGD 0.50 |

Shopify lists no setup fees. For the full plan and fee picture, see Shopify pricing in Singapore.
POS Lite or POS Pro: which do you need?
"POS Lite" is the name many merchants still use for the in-person selling included with every paid plan. Shopify's Singapore pricing page describes it as basic in-person selling. It suits a pop-up, a market stall or a single counter run by the owner.
POS Pro adds staff and inventory tools for outlets with a team. Because it is charged per location, you choose it outlet by outlet:
- A busy mall outlet with shift staff usually needs it, because staff permissions are how you control discounts and refunds.
- A warehouse that never sells in person does not.
- A weekend pop-up can often start on the included tier.
Before committing, compare the POS Pro feature list on Shopify's POS pricing page against how each outlet actually runs.
Which card readers work with Shopify POS in Singapore?
Shopify's help centre lists three card readers for Singapore. All of them run on Shopify Payments:
| Card reader | Payment service |
|---|---|
| WisePad 3 | Shopify Payments |
| POS Terminal | Shopify Payments |
| Verifone Victa Mobile | Shopify Payments |
Payments on these readers go through Shopify Payments, the same service that handles online card payments, so you need Shopify Payments active to use them. Shopify Payments in Singapore accepts Visa, Mastercard, American Express and UnionPay cards.
You can also use an external terminal from a third-party processor. In that case the payment happens outside Shopify, so staff record it in POS and someone reconciles the terminal's settlement report against Shopify sales each day. Shopify's third-party provider fee (2%, 1% or 0.6% by plan) can apply to payments through other providers, so ask Shopify how it applies to your setup before choosing this route.
Reader prices change, so confirm them with Shopify when you order. Buy one set first and test it with your device and the POS app before ordering for every outlet.
What does the first year cost for 1 outlet and 5 outlets?
The table uses the Grow plan on yearly billing with POS Pro at every outlet. Hardware is shown as a line to quote, because prices change.
| Cost line | 1 outlet | 5 outlets |
|---|---|---|
| Shopify Grow plan (SGD 99 × 12) | SGD 1,188 | SGD 1,188 |
| POS Pro (SGD 129 × 12 per location) | SGD 1,548 | SGD 7,740 |
| Shopify software subtotal | SGD 2,736 | SGD 8,928 |
| Card readers, device and counter hardware | 1 set, quote | 5 sets, quote |
| In-person card payments | 2.9% + SGD 0.50 per payment | 2.9% + SGD 0.50 per payment |
| Mall GTO reporting (if on GTO rent) | Our GTO app, from USD 15/month | Check the listing for multi-location pricing |
| Setup, training and integrations | Quote | Quote |
The plan is paid once per store, not per outlet, so the plan cost per outlet falls as you add locations. POS Pro is the line that scales. On card payments, a SGD 40 sale on Grow costs SGD 1.66 in fees (2.9% of SGD 40 plus SGD 0.50). The fixed SGD 0.50 weighs more on small baskets, so check your average sale value when you compare plans.
How do you set up Shopify POS?
- Choose the plan and the POS tier per location. Decide which outlets need POS Pro.
- Activate Shopify Payments if you will use Shopify's card readers.
- Create locations. Each outlet is a Shopify location with its own stock.
- Load products and barcodes. Barcodes in Shopify must match the shelf labels.
- Set up staff. Roles and permissions for discounts, refunds and price changes.
- Pair the card reader and counter hardware, then run test sales and refunds.
- Pilot one outlet before rolling out to the rest.
If your outlets are in malls on gross turnover rent, set up mall GTO reporting at the same time. Our GTO app sends daily Shopify POS sales to JEM and 313@somerset.
